What’s Next in Email Marketing for Creatives in 2025?

Community

Have you been dabbling in email marketing? Email is STILL a very powerful marketing tool that all creatives should invest time and energy into.

I invited email marketing expert Kylie Kelly to share her perspective on email marketing for creatives. It’s not another thing to add to your plate; it’s a way to deeply connect with your audience and potential clients.

Key Takeaways:

  • How often should you email your list?
  • Ways to get people to open and click your emails.
  • Mistakes creatives make with email marketing.
  • The role of storytelling in effective email marketing.
  • How blogging and email marketing work together.
  • The future of email marketing for creatives.

Let’s start with the biggest question. How often should creatives email their list? How do you find that sweet spot?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer (annoying, I know).

But if you’re only popping in when you’re launching something? It’s not enough. I encourage my clients – and any business owner who will listen to me – to show up at least weekly if they want to stay top of mind and build real connections. Remember, we’re building relationships with the humans on the other side of the inbox – and that means they have to get to know us.

The sweet spot is where consistency meets sustainability.

If that’s every other week for you? Beautiful. Start there.

Just make it a rhythm—not a random act of marketing—and make it a goal to do it at least once a week as soon as you can.

What’s your approach to getting people to actually open and click through emails?

My biggest piece of advice is to make it about them, not you.

Subject lines should spark curiosity, tap into a feeling, or promise a quick win—not just announce, “My latest blog post is live.”

Once they open? Keep it personal, scannable, and useful. Every email should do one of three things: build trust, spark a conversation, or guide them toward the next step.

Pro tip? Always add a P.S. link – they get more clicks than you’d think!

Any mistakes you see that we should be avoiding?

Treating it like a one-way conversation instead of a relationship.

Your subscribers aren’t just there to get updates – they’re real humans craving connection, insight, and a reason to believe in what’s possible.

If every email is “New offer! Cart closing! Last chance!”… you’re missing the chance to build long-term loyalty (and sales!)

I know storytelling is important in blogging. What about email marketing for creatives?

Honestly? It’s everything.

Stories are what stick. Whether it’s a behind-the-scenes moment, a client win, or a vulnerable lesson learned, you become memorable when you share more than just your tips.

Storytelling creates emotionally invested readers.

And emotionally invested readers? They buy.

I also want to add that you shouldn’t overthink this. A story doesn’t need to be super lengthy or have a formal format to it. Just sharing a line or two about something that happened recently that they can resonate with is all you need!

We love repurposing content over here! How can we repurpose blog content for email newsletters without sounding repetitive?

Think of your email list as the VIP section. The home base.

You can totally repurpose blog content but don’t just copy-paste. Reframe it.

Add context, tell a story, or share a personal angle that makes it feel like a convo, not a newsletter.

Link to the blog, sure, but tease the transformation, not just the topic.

How do blogging and email marketing work together to form a strong content strategy?

Blogging brings people in. Email deepens the relationship.

Think of your blog as your visibility tool (hello SEO!) and your emails as your connection-builder.

The magic happens when they work together. Your blog builds trust at scale, and your emails make it personal.

Where do you see email marketing for creatives heading in the next year?

We’re in a “trust recession,” – and the connection is the currency. I see creatives leaning even more into voice, vulnerability, and values. AI might help you write faster, but the emails that convert still sound like you.

Personal storytelling + strategic calls to action = the future.

What trends are you loving and ignoring in email marketing for creatives right now?

Loving: More people sending imperfect emails on purpose. No Canva headers, no fluff – just genuine connection.

Ignoring: “List-cleaning” as the only fix for low engagement. Maybe it’s not your list. Maybe it’s your messaging or how you’re building it.

What’s one thing you wish more creatives understood about email marketing?

Your email list doesn’t need to be huge to be powerful.

You don’t need thousands of subscribers. You need the right people and a strategy rooted in connection, not just conversion.

A warm list of 300 can out-convert 3,000 strangers any day.

Any last-minute thoughts you’d like to share?

If email has ever felt like “just another thing” on your list – you’re not alone.

But when you simplify your strategy and lead with real connection?

It stops feeling like a chore… and starts feeling fun.

If you want to see what relationship-first, visibility-led email growth actually looks like, I’d love to gift you a behind-the-scenes case study from one of my biggest list-building wins.

Inside this free resource, I break down how I grew my list by 1,100+ ideal subscribers (without ads or daily reels) and launched a $25K mastermind directly from the backend all through a strategy that felt aligned and low-pressure.
