I infuse personality and SEO to get you the blog results you've been looking for. Want to learn about how we can work together?
A blog without SEO is a waste of time. I said what I said. And believe me, I know from experience. Blogs need an SEO writer in the driver’s seat to handle the strategy to get the blog to do what you actually need it to do – drive traffic to your website.
Without SEO knowledge, even the most beautifully written posts can go unnoticed. How tragic 😭 So let’s avoid that – deal? Skip the heartbreak and hire a blog writer with SEO knowledge.
A good blog writer understands the connection between quality content and SEO. A well-written blog will connect with your audience on a personal level. The blog might be educating them, empathizing, or answering questions, but your audience will always feel seen and heard.
A good blog writer will also have a deep understanding of SEO. Since this is how your blog is found by new users from search engines, it’s crucial to understand the foundations of getting a blog to rank. An SEO writer will implement keyword research, on-page SEO tactics, metadata, and a strategic layout of the content to elevate a blog post’s reach.
Anyone can write a blog, but will it be written strategically to rank on search engines?
Okay, so we understand that a good blog writer needs to know SEO. But why does SEO even matter when writing a blog?
SEO-optimized content improves search engine rankings and helps people find your content. By targeting specific keywords for each blog, you’re telling Google what your content is about. This helps it know when to show your blog in search results. It could be for your targeted keyword or for similar terms.
Speaking of targeted keywords, you attract the right audience who are actively searching for information related to your blog content. It’s not a bunch of randos landing on your blog; you’re somewhat controlling the traffic coming to your website from search engines.
Writing with specific keywords in mind aligns your content with user intent. I typically recommend targeting more niche keywords. They may have less search volume, but they aren’t as competitive and SUPER specific. You know exactly what people are looking for when they search ‘SEO writer for photographers.’ No confusion there!
A blog writer should know how to implement metadata, header structures, internal linking, and image alt text in blogs. These on-page SEO techniques improve your search rankings and the user experience – something Google cares a lot about!
When a writer understands SEO, they know how to find content people are searching for. They can write high-quality content your audience will love and engage with. This includes answering questions and solving problems rather than just filling space with words.
The Google algorithm changes just as often as the Instagram algorithm 🙃 And as a business owner, do you want to be the one keeping up with the latest SEO best practices, changes, and updates? I didn’t think so. Let your SEO writer handle it! An SEO writer will stay informed about these changes and adapt their strategies accordingly. As their client, you’ll continue to see increased visibility, rankings, and website traffic without skipping a beat.
Can I make a confession? 🙊 When I first started my business, I was writing blogs for clients without SEO knowledge. I was a good writer but I was relying on Yoast SEO to drive my “SEO strategy” (if you can even call it that.) I just wrote articles from topics my clients gave me or made something up that sounded good. My clients at the time didn’t expect anything more – my prices reflected the value I was giving. I’m lowkey embarrassed that I didn’t really know what I was doing back then.
Now that I’ve had SEO training and have been offering blog writing services for a few years, I understand what I cost those clients in the beginning.
They probably missed opportunities for organic traffic. I didn’t understand the importance of keyword research or where to place target keywords in blogs. Blogs weren’t getting any visibility; they were just being posted to their website without any strategy. The quality of my writing didn’t matter because there wasn’t an SEO strategy to back it up.
My old clients likely had low search engine rankings. Instead of writing strategic metadata, I copy/pasted from the article. Without optimization, their content was buried under more tactical competitors.
There are a lot of blog writers out there, but how many have SEO knowledge? It could be costing you visibility, traffic, and clients.
So how do you find an SEO writer for your blog?
First, do they have their own blog that they’re posting to consistently? An SEO writer knows consistency and quality are the foundations of an effective blog strategy. You can also read their blog to get an idea of their writing style. Although, a good SEO writer should be able to adapt to your tone of voice and audience 😉
Second, look at their blog writing packages. Does it include SEO services and strategy? Keep pricing in mind, too. If you find really low prices for blog writing (like what I was offering in the beginning stages of my business), they probably aren’t an SEO writer.
You can also look for case studies and testimonials. Case studies should show the metrics they achieved for a client. Testimonials would ideally touch on the results the writer achieved for a client.
Another way is to talk to them on a discovery call. This is your chance to ask questions and learn how SEO is involved in their process. Preferably, their package would include reporting to show results from their blog writing efforts. However, an SEO writer that guarantees results is a red flag. SEO is a tricky science and results are never guaranteed, even for the biggest SEO experts in the world.
Blog writers need SEO knowledge – end of story. If you’re ready to work with a blog writer with professional coaching, proven results, and SEO at the forefront of the strategy, schedule a discovery call with me!
