How to Provide REAL Value in Your Blogs

Blogging

I feel like we’ve lost what it means to provide value to our audience. It’s become watered down, drowning in AI-generated content that may provide information, but is it valuable?

Actually solving problems? Actually helping people?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Your blog should answer every question your audience has about a topic, even the ones they never thought of before.

I don’t want to see flimsy, fluffy, boring blogs (and neither does your audience).

I want you to give me more content than I know what to do with.

This☝️is what I mean when I say word count doesn’t really matter. Make the blog as long as it needs to be to provide value to your readers.

Because:

  1. You better believe I’m gonna see you as an expert when you write a super in-depth blog on a topic in your niche.
  2. You’re providing the best value on the internet related to that topic (hellooooo search rankings!)

So how do you do it?

How to Provide REAL Value in Your Blogs

1. Pick niche blog topics.

It’s really hard to go to the level of depth I’m asking for when you pick something super broad to write about.

So instead of “how to write a blog”, how about “6 strategies to write engaging headlines”?

Or break up this broad topic: “best wedding venues in Colorado”…

…into multiple narrower topics:

  • Individual feature on your favorite wedding venues
  • How to choose the right wedding venue in Colorado for your budget
  • What to expect when touring a wedding venue
  • How to negotiate wedding venue contracts
  • Red flags to look for in Colorado wedding venues

See all the options?! Get really narrow on the topics you choose to write about.

Keep in mind that finding keywords could (not always!) be a little more difficult for niche topics, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t searching for the answers you’re providing.

SEO is important, of course, but writing for your audience matters even more.

2. Do your research.

You might not know every single thing about a topic, but there’s someone out there who can fill in the gaps.

And providing value means sharing all the information you can gather about a topic and citing multiple sources to back up your claims.

Or share personal experiences.

Research can also be substituted for personal experience. Sharing your experiences creates trust with your audience. You’re sharing a story about what you were struggling with, the solutions you tried, and how you ultimately succeeded.

3. Answer alllll the questions.

Think of some questions you might have about this topic, then research more questions your audience could have.

Some places to look:

  • People Also Ask section of Google
  • Ask your audience directly
  • Find question-based keywords
  • Ask AI for some FAQs
  • Use Answer The Public

Find out what your audience actually wants to know more about before writing your blog. Then use that information to structure your blog—and use the questions as headers for an SEO boost!

Create content that genuinely helps your reader solve a problem, answer a question, or make a decision.

4. Provide links to other resources.

Where can they go if they want to learn more about the topic? Of course, CTAs at the end of your blog are important, but I’m actually talking about internal linking right now.

Maybe your blog touches on sub-topics but doesn’t go in-depth. Link to another resource that does (P.S. this is how I come up with a lot of my blog topic ideas!)

Giving your audience as much information as you can positions you as a trusted expert.

And this doesn’t mean cranking out as much content as you can. It means providing value in the resources and blogs that you can create.

Deliver Value First, and the Results Will Follow

It doesn’t matter how much you write, but it does matter how much value you provide. If you can write one more paragraph to add some extra context or value, DO IT!

The better blogs you write, the more authority you show your audience AND Google.

FAQs About Providing Value in Blogs

How do I know if my blog is valuable to my audience?

A valuable blog answers a specific question, keeps readers engaged, and leaves them feeling more informed or confident than before. Metrics like time on page, shares, comments, and conversions can also indicate whether your content is resonating.

What types of blog content provide the most value?

Content that is practical and easy to implement tends to perform best. The blog formats that usually work well are how-to guides, tutorials, and case studies.

How can I make my blog posts more actionable?

Break your content into clear steps, include examples, and give readers a specific next step. Focus on practical takeaways they can implement right away.

Is longer blog content always more valuable?

Not necessarily. Value comes from relevance and clarity, not just length. A shorter, well-structured post that directly solves a problem can be more valuable than a long, unfocused one.
